According to reports, the House sees Ayodele’s achievement as an inspiration, and decided he should be celebrated as a means to encourage other students. He would reportedly be ushered in to sit among members of the House, for special recognition. A senior legislative official told Punch correspondent: “He will be ushered in and a motion will be moved to honour the young man, during which members will speak on Dada’s achievement.” In a letter written by Leader of the House, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, he urged the lawmakers to honour Dada.

Here’s what he said: “In the last two weeks, Nigeria and Nigerians have been inundated with the news of the incredible performance of Mr. Ayodele Dada, a student of the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Lagos, who set a new academic record by graduating with a 5.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average. The first time ever in the university and perhaps Nigeria’s history, I believe, as leaders and as a country, it is time we started celebrating our successes, particularly in a period of great national despondency that has enveloped us for years now.

“As a House, I believe we should recognise, celebrate and commend Mr. Ayodele so as to encourage him and give hope and inspiration to many others. To this end, I wish you join me as we suspend the House rules to invite Mr. Ayodele Dada to the floor of the House on March 22 to honour the young man and his remarkable achievement. His story is compelling and inspirational to the youth and he represents and mirrors the hope of our tomorrow.” According to Punch, the session which was set to hold on March 22, has been postponed because the House would not be sitting.

Dangote Group Sponsors 800 Nigerians To Understudy Refinery Operations In India

President of Dangote Group and Africa’s richest man, is sending about 800 Nigerians to India, to learn the operations of a petrochemical refinery.

A source in the multi-billion naira company, Dangote Group, has exclusively confirmed to TheCable on Friday that billionaire business mogul and Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, is sending about 800 Nigerians to India, to learn the operations of a petrochemical refinery, adding that the first batch to be trained will leave for India on Sunday, March 20, 2016.

It was learnt that the 800 Nigerians will travel to the Asian country over the next 24 months in a batch of fifties, to learn from the nation with the largest refinery in the world.

India is home to the world’s largest refinery, Jamnagar Refinery Reliance Industries, Jamnagar, which refines as much as 1.2 million barrels per day.

“About 800 will be trained in batches within 24 months. The first batch of 50 is leaving for India on Sunday,” the source said.

Dangote is looking to creating employment within the Nigerian economy, rather than importing expatriates to run the first private refinery in Nigeria.

The refinery, projected to worth $9 billion, is being built to have a refining capacity of about 500,000 to 650,000 barrels per day.

“After receiving a private licence to build a refinery, Dangote has commenced the building of a 650,000 barrel per day (BPD) petroleum refinery, which will be the single largest in the world.

“The refinery would have a larger capacity than all of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) refineries put together,” the conglomerate said in a statement more than a year ago.

Dangote, who hosted Godwin Emefiele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), at the site of the refinery in January, assured Nigerians that the refinery would be ready to meet the nation’s need by 2018.
